Rampur: Three people have died after cobra and other snakes bit over 50 people in Param village of Rampur district, creating panic among the people. While a person was bitten by the cobra when he was in his field, an 18-year-old girl was bitten when she was lying on her bed. All the incidents happened during the last fortnight. Due to such large number of snake bites in the area, the nearby primary health center has exhausted all medicines to counter the poison.
The villagers also claimed that due to the panic, children of the village have stopped going out of their house and were skipping their schools. District Magistrate Amit Kishore said here today that efforts were on to call a snake charmer from Kashipur in Uttarakhand to catch the reptiles. (UNI)
