Bhopal: In an apparent bid to counter Reliance Jio's low data tariffs, state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced launching of an entry-level new promotional high-speed unlimited broadband plan at Rs 249 per month. “Users will get 2Mbps speed for the first 2GB of data, and thereafter they will get 1Mbps speed – which will be minimum broadband speed henceforth – for the rest of the month.

Under the plan, data cost will come around 75 paise per GB,” Chief General Manager (Bhopal Circle) GC Pandey told media here. He said the plan also offered unlimited free calls from 2100 hrs to 0700 hrs and the whole day on Sundays to any network in India. Besides, landline connection would be made available to new customers for Rs 49 per month and installation charges would be waived off during the promotional period.

“Besides, round-the-clock free unlimited calling would be provided at an additional cost of Rs 98 to landline customers availing plan of Rs 700 per month or above. For mobile phone users, unlimited 3G data would be provided at Rs 1,099 at 3G speed,” he said. The state-run telecom operator is also planning to provide the facility of free wi-fi spots at 258 places. Of them, wi-fi facility has become operational at 60 spots. (UNI)
