Tripura min launches distribution of free mustard oil

The Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has launched the distribution of subsidised mustard oil to ration card holders in the public distribution system as part of the government’s initiative to provide quality edible oil at affordable prices.Chowdhury visited fair-priced shops in the city, handed over the mustard oil to the ration card holders, and reiterated that the state government has decided to supply mustard oil at subsidised prices at least four times a year.

He alleged that political parties have attempted to mislead consumers before to tarnish the image of the government with false propaganda despite knowing the facts. Both the CPIM and Congress had launched a malicious campaign against the government, saying that only empty canvas bags were distributed instead of essential items as promised by the state government.

The canvas bag is being provided to each of the ration card holders free of cost as the decision was taken by the council of ministers on October 10. By then, most of the consumers had lifted their monthly ration, which included rice, wheat flour, and sugar, at subsidised rates since the bags reached much later and the empty bags were distributed, the minister explained.
“The allegation of a scam in canvas bag distribution is mere imagination and has no base,” he added.(UNI)<>
