New Delhi: Reacting to the reports that the Dhingra Commission, constituted in 2015 to investigate a mutation of land deal between Robert Vadra’s company Skylight Hospitality and realty major DLF, had concluded that the he made illegal profits of Rs 50.5-crore from a land deal in Haryana in 2008 without spending a single penny, the son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi today said that truth would prevail. "Truth shall prevail!!,’’Mr Vadra said in a post on social media. The statement by Mr Vadra came two days after his wife and daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi Priyanka Vadra said that the properties owned by her had no link with her husband’s finances.
Reports in some sections of the media have said that the Dhingra Commission, constituted in 2015 to investigate a mutation of land deal between Vadra's firm Skylight Hospitality and realty major DLF, had concluded that the businessman (Vadra) made illegal profits of Rs 50.5-crore from a land deal in Haryana in 2008 without spending a single penny.
Congress yesterday charged the Government of having leaked the report of the commission out of ‘political vendetta’. Talking to the reporters here, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the contents of the report, that allegedly pertains to land deals by Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, were ‘leaked’ despite the Punjab and Haryana High Court injunction that publication of the contents of the report was a violation of the order of the court placing injunction on its publication.
"I can understand a Government and ruling party steeped in vendetta deliberately leaking the Dhingra Commission report. However, there are injunctions of the court, dated November 2014 and April 24, 2017 against the publication of the report,’’he said. According to media reports, the Dhingra Commission, in its report, said it "looked into" a property in Amipur village bought by Priyanka in February 2010. In a statement on Thursday night, Priyanka Vadra, however, said that there was no link at all between the land that she bought and sold and the business of her husband. (UNI)
