Two spectators gored to death, 50 injured in bull racing event ‘Manju Virattu’ in TN

Sivaganga: Two spectators were gored to death by raging bulls and more than 50 others injured, few of them grievously in the traditional “Manju Virattu” (bull race) at Siravayal village in this Southern district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Official sources said the deceased were identified as Periyakaruppan and Bose. They died on the way to the government hospital.

The event was organized coinciding with the “Kaanum Pongal” festival.

The bulls went berserk on being unleashed into the open ground and ran into the spectators’ crowd.

The injured were admitted to Sivaganga and Tirupattur government hospitals. (UNI)
