Two taxidermists held for poaching spotted deer in Bhitarkanika National Park

Kendrapara: The forest personnel of Bhitarkanika National Park have arrested two taxidermists on the charge of poaching a spotted deer in Sunei-Rupei protected forest within Rajnagar forest Range.

The forest personnel seized 30 kg of raw venison, a hide, an antler, two snare, billhook, two knives from their possession.

Gupti Forester Bijay Kumar Patra,said acting on a tip off , a forest team conducted raid yesterday and nabbed the taxidermists near Harisahu Ora within the Sueni Rupei protected forest, while they were all set to distribute raw venison with an aim to sell it in nearby market

The Forest officials identified the accused as Krushna Chandra Parida, (32,) and Sasanka Sekhar Maity (35), of Bagapatia village under Rajnagar police limit.

“The accused were booked under Section 9,27,31,39 of wildlife Protection Act,1972 and produced before the JMFC court of Rajnagar today. The court remanded them into jail custody after rejecting their bail pleas,” Mr Patra said.

Meanwhile, raid is going on to nab other associates of the poachers. (UNI)
