Bareilly (UP): A class eighth student was detained by Bareilly police after a threat was received to blow up under-construction Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a police officer said here on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mukesh Chandra said that a call was received at Dial 112 in Lucknow on Tuesday that the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be blown up on September 21. He said that after receiving the call the Lucknow and Ayodhya police started investigating the matter.
He said that when the mobile number was traced it was revealed that it was registered in the name of one Girish, a resident of Itauria under Fatehpur West area of Bareilly district. "The team of the Special Operations Group and Surveillance reached Girish's house on Tuesday night. When questioned Girish told the police that his mobile phone was with a teenager in the evening," they said.
The SP said that on the basis of the information the police detained the 14-year-old boy. "Preliminary investigation has revealed that the boy made the call to blow up Ram temple after watching a video on YouTube. When the boy was asked his name and address by Dial 112, he got afraid and switched off the mobile phone. The body is being questioned further," he said. (UNI)
