Amroha (UP): Two labourers were killed and seven others were injured when the wall of an under construction cineplex collapsed in Amroha district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, a senior administration officer said.
District Magistrate Rajesh Tyagi said that nine labourers were buried under the debris when the wall of under construction Madho Cineplex collapsed in Sadar Kotwali area in the morning. "While two labourers were killed on the spot, seven others were rescued and have been admitted to the district hospital," he said.
He said that relief work continues and further legal action will be taken on the basis of facts emerging after inquiry of the incident.
Police sources said that construction work was being carried out in Madho Palace from the last several days. "One of the walls of the cineplex collapsed all of a sudden and nine labourers were trapped under the debris. Two labourers identified as Rafeeq (45) and Yaseen (22), both residents of Amroha were killed in the incident," they said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the loss of lives in the incident and directed that the injured be taken to the hospital and proper treatment ensured. Along with senior officers of the district administration, Yogi had directed SDRF and NDRF teams to reach the spot and launch relief work. (UNI)
