Jaunpur: A case has been filed against Bhojpuri singer Neha Singh at a court here over a song on Wednesday.

The case was registered in the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge (IV) based on a complaint by Ravi Prakash Pal. The matter will be heard on February 20. It has been alleged that the Bhojpuri song ‘Chala dekhi aai Jaunpur ke B.Ed College’ has hurt the sentiments of the women pursuing B.Ed in the district.

Pal had sent a legal notice to the singer through registered post in this matter last month. In the notice, the singer was asked to apologize in writing within 15 days and broadcast it on social media.

Following no response, Pal, who resides in Pooreseva in the Barsathi area, submitted an application in the court through advocates Himanshu Srivastava and Bhupendra Vikram Singh that the song was promoted on social media by the singer which is associated with the district.

He said that the style and gesture of the song and lyrics are extremely derogatory. Derogatory words have been uttered about the women who have done B.Ed from here which lowered the dignity of the women. (UNI)
