Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced that patients in state-run and private hospitals will be given Remdesivir injections for free.

“Although this medicine in private hospitals will be arranged by the concerned hospital from the companies and the market itself, but if this medicine is not available and it is very necessary for the survival of a patient, then on the basis of the prescription issued by the hospital, the District Magistrate and the Chief Medical Officer can provide a limited number of injections for free to the concerned patient,” government spokesman said here on Monday.

This order was issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Mr Adityanath said in his review meeting that there is no shortage of any life saving medicine like Remdesivir in the state. “Its supply is increasing every day,” he said.

He said that adequate number of vials of Remdesivir has been given to districts as per demand.

Survival of the patients at all costs is the priority of the government. This medicine will be supplied by Uttar Pradesh Medical Supplies Corporation Limited in government hospitals, state and private medical colleges, he said.

Mr Adityanath also ordered that 1800 vials of Remdesivir will be given in all the districts in the state. All serious patients should get this life saving drug, he said.
