Lucknow: Bickering within the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh continue to hog limelight when on Friday a senior leader lodged an FIR alleging threat on his life from the state president Ajay Kumar Lallu.

Senior Congress leader and ex-party secretary Sunil Rai had filed a case against State Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu. A case was registered at Hussainganj police station in Lucknow under various sections of the IPC.

Mr Rai talking to mediapersons here on Friday alleged that he is receiving several international calls threatening him of dire consequences if he did not stop opposing Ajay Kumar Lallu.

" Through these threatening calls people are asking me not to say a word against Lallu," he alleged.

Demanding security as their is threat on his life, Mr Rai said he has also written a letter to Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recently urging her to remove Lallu from the state president post as he was working against the interest of the party.

Alleging that Lallu was deadly against the upper caste community due to which several senior leaders of the upper caste have been thrown out of the party in UP in the recent past, the Congress leader claimed that if Lallu was not removed then the party would perish in the state.

Meanwhile, a media report on Thursday had said the UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu and media chairman Nasimuddin Siddiqui had met Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow recently, giving a new twist to the politics of Congress before the 2022 assembly polls.

However later, the Congress leaders contradicted the report. (UNI)
