UP govt to provide free treatment, cremation facilities for COVID patients

Lucknow: Amid lack of beds and huge number of deaths due to Coronavirus in the state, the govt has announced to provide free treatment and free cremation facilities for to all Covid patients.

The home isolation Covid patients will also get oxygen cylinders on prescription of the doctors.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has strictly ordered no private or government hospital in the state should refuse to treat any Covid infected patients.

“It is our goal to give treatment to all. No private or government hospital can refuse treatment of Covid patient.  As per the rules, the government will bear the cost of their treatment, but the patient should be provided the required medical facility immediately.  If there is no bed in government hospitals from the Covid command center, poor patients can also be referred to private hospitals. The government will bear the cost of their treatment. The government will pay private hospitals at the rate of Ayushman Bharat.  Proper treatment should be provided to those who came positive in antigen test,” CM directed the officials here on Sunday.

      
The CM said after the death due to Covid infection in UP, no fee will be paid by the family members for cremation of the dead body at the cremation site.

CM has issued a directive and has instructed every district collector to implement this system with immediate effect.

He has also directed that the state government to provide oxygen to home isolation Covid patients. 

For this, the district administration has also set up a guideline in which the home isolation patients receiving medical oxygen will have to show the prescription and Aadhaar card.  After that he will be able to get medical oxygen. 

Now non-covid hospitals of the state will also get oxygen from the government.  The government has sought details of their numbers from all the district magistrates, the CM added. (UNI)
