UP: Sub-Inspector tied to pole, thrashed by villagers for molesting girl after scaling house wall in Agra

Agra (UP): A Sub-Inspector (SI) was tied with a pole and thrashed by the villagers after he attempted to molest a girl in Barhan area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Monday.
 
Police sources said that SI Sandeep Kumar has been suspended by Police Commissioner Dr Pritinder Singh and further legal action is being taken against him. "It has been alleged that the SI scaled the wall of a house in an inebriated state late on Sunday night and attempted to molest the victim," they said.
 
Police sources said that when the girl raised the alarm her family members along with the villagers nabbed the SI. "When the villagers came to know that the accused was posted at Barhan police station as an SI, they tied him with the police and thrashed him," they said.
 
Police sources said that during this someone made a video of the incident and made it viral on social media. "After getting the information senior officers reached the spot, pacified the villagers and got the SI released," they said.
 
According to station in-charge Barhan the girl in her statement to the police has said that the SI had been harassing her since long. She has alleged that Sandeep Kumar used to pass comments on her and had even threatened to implicate her and her father in a false case.
 
He said that SI Sandeep Kumar has been suspended and a case is being lodged against him. (UNI)
