A man lost Rs. 6,000 for making the “mistake” of urinating in the Vande Bharat Express train’s toilet. The unfortunate incident happened at the Bhopal railway station.
Abdul Qadir, accompanied by his family, was traveling from Hyderabad to Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. They had a layover at Bhopal station, waiting for their train to Singrauli.
Feeling an urgent need to use the toilet, Abdul boarded an Indore-bound Vande Bharat train standing on the platform. However, when he came out of the toilet, the doors were locked, and the train started moving.
Despite seeking help from ticket collectors and police personnel, Abdul couldn’t open the doors of the train. Ultimately, he had to pay a fine of Rs 1,020 for boarding train without a valid ticket and had to get off at next station Ujjain, where he spend an additional Rs 750 on a bus ticket back to Bhopal.
Abdul’s family also decided not to board their planned train to Singrauli, causing a loss of Rs 4,000 in unused tickets. Hence, Abdul end up losing almost Rs 6,000 for urinating in the Vande Bharat train.
Disappointed with the lack of an emergency system on Vande Bharat trains, Abdul said that the incident exposed flaws in the train’s emergency measures.
In response to Abdul’s charges, Subedar Singh, the PRO of Bhopal Railway Division, said that announcements are made before the train’s departure, indicating the direction of door openings and their locking for passenger safety. He further added that the train could only be stopped with the approval of higher authorities.
