Chitrakoot (UP): A nine-month-old girl suffering from pneumonia died allegedly after being administered an expired injection in the district hospital here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, official sources said here.
Shivangi's parents took her to a child specialist who administered the injection on Sunday night and called them for a repeat dose on Monday. "In the morning, the doctor on duty administered another dose to Shivani after which her condition deteriorated and she died," an official said.
The distraught family alleged that the injection administered to Shivangi had expired in April and created a ruckus.
The Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the hospital reached the spot and suspended pharmacist Dharmesh Mishra, staff nurse Kuldeep Kumar and ward boy Awadhesh. The CMS has also ordered an inquiry into the incident. (UNI)
