Vehicle falls into ditch while on way to Badrinath, 5 devotees killed

Dehradun: A Car of devotees going for Badrinath darshan fell uncontrollably into a deep gorge on the Badrinath National Highway on Sunday morning.

All five people in vehicle are reported to have died. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) spokesperson Lalita Das Negi told UNI that the rescue team from Byasi went to the spot on the information that a car Maruti Ignis fell into a deep gorge near tota Valley.

She quoted team in-charge sub-inspector Neeraj Chauhan and said there were five people in the vehicle and all are dead. She said rescue work is going on.

A body was retrieved and the remaining 4 are also being pulled out from the ditch by the team. (UNI)
