Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Rameshwar Sharma – who represents this district’s Huzur in the Assembly – has tendered an apology in the wake of his controversial ‘Jodha-Akbar’ statement.
At a recent public function in the state capital, the MLA said, “No love existed between Jodha and Emperor Akbar and they never met prior to their marriage. However, people in that era put their daughter at stake for power and there is a need to be cautious against such individuals.”
After the remarks went viral in social media, Mr Sharma went on the defensive and issued a video message stating that he never intended to injure anyone’s sentiments.
“I seek forgiveness from entire Rajputana. Everyone should comprehend that Maharana Pratap was great, not Akbar,” he said. (UNI)
