Guwahati: In a heart wrenching moment Villagers offered tribute to carcasses of 18 wild elephants, reportedly killed in lightning strikes atop of Bamuni hill in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday.

In a tragic incident, as many as 18 wild elephants were killed by lightning in Central Assam’s Nagaon district on Wednesday night.
As per reports, the elephants were hit by lightning atop the hill on Wednesday night. Four elephants were partially charred and three elephants were found dead lying on the foothills.
According to the forest department, the report of the elephant deaths came on Thursday afternoon after local villagers informed them.
Forest officials have rushed to the spot and a postmortem examination will be conducted on Friday.(UNI)
