Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s main opposition Congress on Thursday mocked state Culture and Tourism Minister Usha Thakur for her statement that people gain health by wearing Tantya Mama amulets.
The Minister’s comments – made while interacting with the press during a programme conducted as part of a yatra associated with tribal hero Tantya Bhil – are going viral in social media. The yatra is scheduled to reach Indore district’s Patalpani in the near future. The video containing Ms Thakur’s remarks was purportedly taken in Malwa region.
When asked regarding fresh protocols vis-à-vis prevention of novel coronavirus infection, she said, “No restrictions are in force now and I am of the firm belief that nothing will go wrong anywhere. Everybody is healthy. You will be surprised to learn that the Tantya Mama amulets that are distributed help persons in gaining health. There is boundless faith and we are on our way to offer salutations to that towering revolutionary. No hurdle shall be caused either by nature or the Almighty.”
The Congress posted the video and wrote, “In the wake of her words, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government should withdraw all prohibitions and guidelines besides doing away with compulsory inoculation. Ms Thakur must publicise the Shivraj talisman as – according to Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel – Mr Chouhan is a reincarnation of Tantya Mama.” (UNI)
