Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday condoled the demise of 84-year-old Shova Mujumdar, who along with her son, was allegedly brutally assaulted by some TMC supporters at her Nimta residence in North 24 Parganas district, last month.

“Anguished over the demise of Bengal’s daughter Shova Majumdar ji, who was brutally beaten by TMC goons,” Mr Shah wrote on his twitter account.

Gopal, who is in his late 50s, is physically challenged by birth.

The attackers had barged into their house and assaulted both the octogenarian mother and her son.

The widow had been admitted to a hospital for 4/5 days. She was undergoing treatment at her

Nimta residence where she died early today.

“The pain & wounds of her family will haunt Mamata didi for long. Bengal will fight for a violence-free tomorrow, Bengal will fight for a safer state for our sisters & mothers,” the Union home minister tweeted. (UNI)
