Kolkata: India’s former speedster and BJP’s Moyna assembly seat candidate Ashok Dinda was on Tuesday sustained minor injury and his car was vandalised at Moyna Bazar in East Medinipur, allegedly in an attack orchestrated by the TMC supporters. The ECI has ordered a probe into the incident.
“I fled from my car along with my brother to the BDO office with our lives,” Mr Dinda told the reporters and alleged the TMC was trying to create terror on the opposition and their supporters ahead of the April 1 poll.
He said he was hurt as a brick hit his back, just below my head, which came through the smashed window screen of his car and his brother sustained wounds on his hand in the attack, which happened around 4 pm.
The former cricketer, who quit from all form of game and jumped into the saffron politics, said he was returning after the time of campaign was over
Meanwhile, the local authorities began a probe after the EC ordered an inquiry into the incident.
However, the local TMC leadership denied its involvement in the attack.
Elsewhere a BJP supporter, identified as Janmayjoy Dolui, was lynched to death after abducted at Egra, also in East Medinipur early today.
While the BJP claimed that its supporter was lynched to death by the TMC men, the latter denied and said the infighting between the old and new BJP men led to death of Dolui, who was found with multiple wounds on the road at Egra. (UNI)
