Lucknow: Yes, you heard it right. The newly elected Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh is all set to resign. But not from his CM chair, instead from the member of parliament post from Gorakhpur constituency.
The saffron clad Yogi has been 5 time MP from Gorakhpur. As Adityanath has been appointed as Chief Minister, he has to either contest a legislative assembly election or take membership in the Legislative assembly within 6 months. The same formula goes with deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma as the duos are not MLAs.
According to sources, Yogi Adityanath may contest an election from any of the nine seats which falls under Gorakhpur constituency. MLA Vipin Singh has proposed to vacate his seat for CM Adityanath. It is to be noted that the BJP won 8 seats out of 9 in Gorakhpur. (WD)
