Imphal: A 50 year old woman identified as Ibetombi was killed when unknown persons resorted to firing during celebrations of the victory of Argentina over France in the FIFA World Cup Final here on Sunday night.
After watching the final match Ibetombi had reportedly retired at her home when she was hit by a bullet on her chest. She was rushed to hospital but she died due to bullet wounds.
Manipur Police personnel along with forensic experts on Monday inspected the residence of
Ibetombi here at Singjamei. Two bullet marks were found on the wall of the house.
Police said it was not yet known who was responsible for resorting to firing after the match. A sit in protest was held to demand punishment of those involved in the killing.
The protestors said they will not claim the body of the deceased until the perpetrators were arrested and punished. They also demanded that the government should not issue gun licenses to irresponsible people to avoid such untoward incidents.(UNI)
