New Delhi: To address the issue of livestock depredation by large carnivores resulting in financial losses to cattle owners and to check the unregulated grazing in the core area of the Corbett Tiger Reserve, WWF-India has initiated ‘Tiger Safe’, a pro-conservation insurance scheme in Dhela village of Uttarakhand.

The village is situated in the buffer of Corbett Tiger Reserve, and reports more than 35 cases of livestock depredation every year, resulting in human wildlife conflicts in the area. WWF-India has initiated this insurance scheme, in partnership with the Oriental Insurance Company. (UNI)
