Ayodhya: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today reached the temple city to offer prayers at Hanumangarhi and makeshift temple of Ram Lalla at the disputed site. This is Mr Adityanath's first visit, post taking charge as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. With this visit, Mr Adityanath became the second Chief Minister of the state to pray at the disputed site after Mr Rajnath Singh, who had offered prayers in 2002. In the past 15 years, no other Chief Minister has visited the disputed site to offer prayers after the demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992. The Chief Minister arrived at the Faizabad airstrip at around 0850 hrs and drove directly to Hanumangarhi from there.

Amidst 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans and chanting of 'Mandir wahin banayenge', Mr Adityanath was welcomed at Ram Janmabhoomi. The Chief Minister worshipped at the Hanumangarhi temple for about 20 minutes and later, left for the darshan of Ram Lalla. At the Ram Lalla makeshift temple, Mr Adityanath prayed for around 40 minutes. The CM also inquired from the officials about the details of the disputed land and even discussed about the security measures.

He prayed at Hanumangarhi for about 20 minutes and the priests garlanded him with a religious scarf and flowers. In both the places-- Hanumangarhi and makeshift temple of Ram Lalla-- unprecedented security was in place and neither the common people, media nor anyone else were allowed. Mr Adityanath has a Z-plus security cover. Later, the Chief Minister left for Saryu river darshan. (UNI)
