Mathura (UP): A youth was arrested by a joint team of Vrindavan police and surveillance cell for making a hoax call regarding a bomb in a temple from Pani Ghat crossing on Wednesday, a senior police officer said here.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shailesh Kumar Pandey said on July 2 a call was received regarding bombs in Prem Temple in Vrindavan. After thorough checking the information was found to be false, he said.
He said that acting on a tip off the police team arrested Anil Kumar (38), the youth who made the hoax call, while he was trying to escape. The accused chose to give false information on Sunday as there is usually a lot of crowd in the temples of Vrindavan on this day, he said.
Pandey said that on the day the information was received Mudiya Punno fair was going on and generally pilgrims come to visit the main temples of Vrindavan after circumambulating Govardhan.
"The accused made a hoax call that bombs were kept at various places in Prem Mandir in order to create an atmosphere of fear," he said.
He said that the mobile phone and the SIM card used in making the hoax call have been recovered from the possession of the accused. (UNI)
