Popular Tamil YouTuber and political commentator A.Shankar alias “Savukku” Shankar, who was arrested by the Coimbatore city cybercrime police for making derogatory remarks against police officials, suffered injuries along with two policemen escorting him, when the van transporting him from Theni to Coimbatore met with an accident near Dharapuram in Tiruppur district on Saturday.
Police said Shankar, who has been booked under Sections 294(b), 509 and 353 of IPC r/w section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act and section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 following a complaint filed against him by a woman sub inspector of police, attached to the crime branch of Coimbatore city police was arrested from Theni.
While being taken to Coimbatore from Theni in a police van, a car collided head-on with the police vehicle at Dharapuram town.
Shankar and two police personnel escorting him suffered minor injuries in the accident and all of them were given first aid treatment at Dharapuram government hospital.
Later, Shankar was brought to Coimbatore in another police vehicle.Shankar made obscene comments against woman police in his recent interview to another YouTube channel.(UNI)
