New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) In keeping with the emerging markets, the Centre will soon bring a Consumer Protection Bill, 2015, that defines e-commerce and will empower the central government to prevent unfair trade practices in online trade.

It will provide for fixing liability of e-portals and intermediaries providing goods and services.
The Bill will replace the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.

The Bill proposes setting up of a Central Consumer Protection Authority on the lines of the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) headed by a Commissioner.
