KL Rahul smashed Tim Southee for a six and a four while Kohli scored a four and a double as India handed Kiwis their second successive Super Over defeat in three days.

Chasing a target of 166 for victory, New Zealand needed 7 runs in the last over to win the match but Shardul Thakur conceded only 6 runs as India restricted New Zealand to 165/7 to force Super Over.

Colin Munro ( 64 off 47 ) and Tim Siefert’s ( 57 off 39 ) brilliance with the bat was not enough for the hosts to chase down 166 in Wellington.

Earlier, a superb batting effort by Manish Pandey (50* off 36) guided India to a respective total of 165- 8 in 20 overs after a top-order collapse.

Shardul Thakur was given Match of the Match Award for his all-round performance in the match. He scored 20 off 15 (2 four) and picked two wickets conceding 33 runs runs. (UNI)
