Ace bowler Mohammed Shami receives threat with Rs 1 cr ransom demand, case lodged in Amroha

Amroha (UP): A case has been lodged after ace bowler of the Indian cricket team Mohammed Shami received a threat of with dire consequences with a demand of Rs 1 crore by an unidentified through an email in Amroha district here in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Anand said that after the complaint of threat to Mohammed Shami, Amroha police and crime branch teams have become alert. "The help of cyber experts is being taken for technical investigation of the email. The police has started the process of identifying and tracing the location of the sender of the email," he said.

He said that in a complaint given to the police by Haseeb Ahmed, it has been alleged that on opening the email ID on May 4, it mentioned a threat to kill Mohammed Shami, some 'Prabhakara' and Rs 1 crore from an email ID named Rajput Sindhar. "Based on the complaint, a report has been registered in the cyber police station," he said.

It may be noted that Mohammed Shami is a resident of Sahaspur Alinagar village under Didauli Kotwali area of Amroha district. He is one of the main bowlers of the Indian team and has recently performed well in the country and abroad.
