Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf found himself at the center of controversy during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21.

While fielding near the boundary ropes, Rauf was caught on camera making the ‘6-0’ hand gesture towards Indian fans and even mimicking the act of downing a fighter jet. Multiple videos and photos of the incident have since gone viral on social media, drawing sharp reactions.

What does Haris Rauf’s ‘6-0’ gesture mean?

The “6-0” reference suggests Pakistan’s unverified claim that it had downed six Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor. The gesture was seen by many as a political taunt rather than mere sporting banter.

Reports also suggest that Rauf had been chanting “6-0” during Pakistan’s training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai a day earlier, on Saturday.

During the match, Indian fans tried to get under the pacer’s skin by chanting the name of Virat Kohli, even though the former India captain was not part of the playing XI. The chants were a reminder of the unforgettable 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne, where Kohli smashed Rauf for two iconic back-to-back sixes in the final over, steering India to a historic win.

The incident has now triggered debate online, with many calling Rauf’s actions unsporting and provocative, while others brushed it off as part of the heated India-Pakistan rivalry.
