Mumbai:BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Thursday announced the shifting of Asia Cup from Sri Lanka to the UAE.
The mega tournament was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka. But Sri Lanka Cricket had yesterday told the Asian Cricket Council that it would not be possible for them to hold the Asia Cup in the wake of economic and political crisis in the country.
"Asia Cup will be in UAE, as it is the only place where there won't be rain," Ganguly told reporters after BCCI's Apex Council meeting here.
This decision by SLC came after the postponement of the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to the ongoing crisis the country.Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from August 27 to September 11 and played in the T20 format.(UNI)
