Mumbai: After white-washing the Indian eves 3-0 in the just concluded ODI series, Australian women kicked-off their campaign at the triangular T20I series with a six-wicket win over the hosts at the Brabourne Stadium, here on Thursday.Put into bat after losing the toss, the India women team started the proceedings on a decent note as openers Mithali Raj (18) and Smriti Mandhana shared a 72-run partnership for the opening wicket. Smriti struck a stylish 67 off 41 deliveries.
Smriti fell in the 14th over with India's scorecard reading 99/2. The women in blue then lost the wickets of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (13) and Jemimah Rodrigues (1) which left the hosts reeling at 100/4.However, Anuja Patil's 21-ball 35 and an unbeaten 15 run knock by Veda Krishnamurthy down the order helped India reach a respectable total of 152 runs in the allotted 20 overs.(UNI)
