BCCI condemns Pahalgam terror attack

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives.

In a statement, BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed deep shock and anguish over the horrific attack, extending heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims.

"The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday," Saikia said.

"On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with the strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls," he said.

The BCCI's statement highlighted the board's solidarity with the affected families and emphasised the importance of standing united in the face of such senseless violence. "In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy," Saikia added.

The attack, which occurred in the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, has shocked the nation, with authorities working swiftly to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of civilians in the region.
