BCCI orders delivery of 72 pink balls for maiden Day-Night Test match

BCCI orders delivery of 72 pink balls for maiden Day-Night Test match
, Thursday, 31 October 2019 (13:54 IST)
Kolkata:The BCCI has ordered pink ball maker -SG - to deliver 72 balls by next week for India's first-ever day night Test against Bangladesh next month, a day after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has agreed to India's proposal to play with pink ball at the Eden Gardens from November 22.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that SG pink balls will be used for the historic match at the iconic cricket stadium. Making such pick ball fit for a Test match to be played during day and night play is a challenge for SG as its pink ball is yet to be tested in a competitive game, a report said.

The Duleep Trophy was played with Kookaburra pink balls for three seasons and not SG before the BCCI switched back to red ball this year."The BCCI has ordered six dozen pink balls and we will deliver them by middle of next week. As you have seen in the South Africa series, we made significant improvements with our red 'SG Test' and we have the same level of research and development for pink ball," company's sales and marketing director, Paras Anand
was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday called on NCA (National Cricket Academy) chief Rahul Dravid in Bengaleru to chalk out a roadmap for the improvement of the academy.

The former India skipper, who took over the BCCI's reins last week, also visited the proposed land where the new NCA facility is supposed to come up.BCCI had signed a 25-acre deal with the Karnataka government in May and now it has got an additional 15 acres of land from the government for setting up the Centre of Excellence near the Bengaluru international airport.(UNI)
