Indian women hockey team pulled off an upset after defeating 3-time world champ Australia by a thin scoreline of 1-0. The only goal scored by the Indian team came in the second half when the Australian team conceded a penalty corner. Dragflicker Gurjit Kaur made the most of it by hitting the ball straight into the goalpost. Later Australian players resorted to attacking and made into the D of the Indian contingent regularly. Despite getting 7 penalty corners Aussies failed to convert even 1 chance into the goal. In the last leg, they got 2 oppurtunity but the Indian goalkeeper ensured no casualty is done.
