New Delhi: The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League has decided to hold a meeting next week to review 'IPL's various sponsorship deals', including the one with Chinese mobile phone company Vivo, the title sponsor of the cash-rich league.
The decision comes in the wake of border clashes between India and China at the Galwan valley in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred earlier this week.

''Taking note of the border skirmish that resulted in the martyrdom of our brave jawans, the IPL Governing Council has convened a meeting next week to review IPL's various sponsorship deals,'' the official IPL handle tweeted late on Friday night.

Notably, the BCCI gets Rs 440 crore annually from the mobile firm and have a five-year deal with them, signed between the two parties in 2018. It is understood that the meeting has been called to decide on whether to invoke the exit clause or honour Vivo's contract till 2022.

Anti-China sentiments are running high in India following the border clash between the two countries at Galwan valley and there are calls to boycott Chinese products(UNI)
