London: England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler was on Friday ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing white-ball series against Sri Lanka due to right calf injury.

Buttler sustained a right calf injury in England's first T20I victory at Sophia Gardens on Wednesday.

He felt tightness and discomfort at the end of the game after a match-winning 68 not out secured an eight-wicket win for England.

'He underwent an MRI scan in Cardiff on Thursday morning, which revealed a small tear,' the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

The batsman will return home and commence his rehabilitation programme.

Yorkshire batsman Dawid Malan has been added to the ODI squad for the forthcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.

England lead the three-match T20I series 2-0. (UNI)
