Colombo: Charu Sharma, a well-known pundit, host, and quizmaster from India, will conduct an auction for the LPL (Lanka Premier League) the next week, Tournament director Samantha Dodanwela said on Friday.
On June 14 the LPL ((Lanka Premier League) will have its first player auction.
Charu Sharma has been invited to this auction.
A few local pundits will also help him, Dodanwela added over the phone from Colombo, Daily mirror reports.
The LPL is not unfamiliar with the name Charu Sharma.
He previously oversaw the players' draught, and now his experience will be used to the live auction, he continued.
At the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in 2022, he served as the SOS auctioneer after Hugh Edmeades passed out from postural hypotension.
After lunch on the first day, Sharma started the auction and ran it until the very end of the second day, when Edmeades arrived back.
Around 500 cricket players have expressed interest in competing in the LPL this year.
With 140 foreign players, we intend to hold the auction for roughly 300 players.
The fourth league edition will take place from July 30 to August 20, 2023.
The event will include five franchise teams.
Each franchise team will send in US$ 500,000 to compete in the player auction, bringing the total to US$ 2.5 million. (UNI)
