Confusion prevails over venue for India-West Indies ODI

Kochi: With the confusion and uncertainty over the venue for conducting the One-Day International match between India and West Indies, to be held on Novermber one continued, the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), which owned the proposed Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here, informed that they had not take a final decision in this regard.

Informing this at a press meet here, GCDA Chairman C N Mohanan said on Wednesday that they would seek experts option on the issue on whether cricket and football could be played in the stadium and a final decision in this regard would be taken after obtaining the views of the experts.The GCDA had held a meeting with the representatives of Kerala Cricket Association and Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters here today.

Stating that the GCDA was not against hosting the cricket and football here, he said they would approve whatever decision was taken by the government in this regard.KCA Secretary Jayesh said that there would be no harm done to the ground and the truf should be made ready for the football match soon after the ODI.A tug of war was going on to hold the ODI at the greenfield stadium Thiruvananthapuram and many football players had come up against conducting the match at Kochi stating that the turf would turn bad once the cricket match was held there.(UNI)
