Cricket Association of Bengal ready to host World Cup in grand fashion

Kolkata:Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehashish Ganguly is optimistic that the iconic Eden Gardens will host the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in grand fashion.Speaking at the ICC World Cup Trophy Tour program at the Eden Gardens on Friday, Ganguly stressed that the matches at the iconic stadium will be one to watch out for.

"It is indeed a special occasion for us to be able to stage 5 World Cup matches at the iconic Eden Gardens. I hope it will be a thrilling occasion and everyone will enjoy the matches. I thank the ICC, BCCI for giving is the opportunity and believing in us, " Ganguly said.

"I wish the Indian team the very best for the World Cup. I also thank the office bearers of CAB and others involved for putting in their hard work to make today's event a success. I am surely looking forward and hope to make the fans and cricket lovers happy with the arrangements being made here at the Eden," CAB President added.

Alongside CAB President Ganguly, Vice President Amalendu Biswas, Secretary Naresh Ojha, Joint Secretary Debrabrata Das and Treasure Prabir Chakraborty were also present.

Indian Tennis legend Leander Paes, who was also present for the occasion, said, "I thank the CAB President Snehashish Ganguly for arranging such a wonderful event today. Indeed, witnessing the World Cup is a very special feeling.

"I wish the Indian team the best for the World Cup. I will follow the matches, and I am sure the matches at the Eden will be jam-packed. I feel the best match will be the India-Pakistan match in Ahmedabad," Paes added.

Former India bowler Jhulan Goswami, also present for the evening, said, "India does have a strong team for the World Cup. All bases have been covered, and I wish them the best. Eden Gardens will surely be a venue to watch for this World Cup, and I have no doubt about that."

Former India and Bengal fast bowler Ashok Dinda also hoped to see India do well at the marque event.

"Indian team are always good and strong at home. It will be a wonderful and exciting World Cup. Above all, the crowd and full-house Eden Gardens will be special to witness," Dinda said.(UNI)<>
