New Delhi: Tributes came flowing in from around the world for India great Jhulan Goswami after her final international match against England at Lord's.

A whole host of India stars - both past and present - took to social media to pass on their praise for the veteran pacer, who announced her retirement from international cricket following the conclusion of the ODI series against England, on her stellar career.

In an international career spanning over two decades – the second longest in women’s international cricket - Jhulan, who made her debut in 2002, represented India in 12 Tests, 204 ODIs and 68 T20Is picking 355 wickets across formats.

Taking to Twitter, Sachin Tedulkar said: "Thank you for everything you’ve done for Indian cricket. Many congratulations on a wonderful career @JhulanG10"

Jhulan's former-skipper Mithali Raj tweeted: "Her longevity as a fast bowler in women's cricket is beyond belief. We have played together since our Under-19 days & @JhulanG10's commitment to the game & her eternal optimism are lessons for all. The Indian jersey will miss you. Best wishes for your future endeavours, Jhulu."

"You've inspired generations @JhulanG10! For 20 years you've ran in hard and delivered the best for your country and we couldn't be more proud. Many congratulations on a wonderful career and best wishes for the road ahead!" VVS Laxman tweeted.

Virat Kohli shared: "A great servant of Indian cricket. Congratulations on an outstanding career, inspiring so many women to take up the sport. Your grit and aggression always stood out. I wish you the very best."

India star speedster Jasprit Bumrah said: "Your contribution to the sport has been immense, you’ve inspired so many youngsters to take up the sport. Congratulations on a splendid career @JhulanG10 and the all the best for everything the future holds."

"The run up. The zinc. The longevity. The records. The big wickets. The smile. The skill. The humbleness. The glue. The lion heart. The very best. The icon. Thank you for everything, " former Australia women cricketer turned commentator Mel Jones said.

Former Australia batter Alexandra Joy Blackwell said: "Jhulan also got me out in my only test innings against India! I’ve always loved the challenge of facing Jhulan, but mostly I’ve enjoyed the spirit she brought to the field. Fierce but friendly at the same time. A remarkable career."

"Congratulations on a very special career @JhulanG10. A true pioneer of our game. To have that length of a career as a seamer is testament to you and your dedication. Women’s cricket will miss you. Enjoy retirement," England bowler Kate Cross tweeted.

Jhulan, who went on to play five ODI World Cups – 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022 – remains the leading wicket-taker in the history of the Women’s World Cups. She also remains the only pacer in women’s cricket to have 250-plus wickets in ODIs. (UNI)
