Palghar: Renowned Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur, who hails from the district, was conferred the title of ‘Palghar Ratna’ in a public function here, authorities said on Wednesday.
District Guardian Minister Dada Bhuse conferred the title upon Shardul at the flag-hoisting function on Republic day on Tuesday by presenting him a citation and a memento. The fast bowler was felicitated upon his return to his hometown in Palghar last week after the successful tour of Australia.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhuse praised Shardul for having brought pride not only to Palghar but for the state and the country.
Several dignitaries were present on the occasion. (UNI)
