Birmingham: India's ace shuttlers P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth entered the pre-quarterfinals of the singles discipline with an easy win in their respective second round matches on Thursday.
Sindhu proved too strong for the Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives and won the women’s singles match 21-4, 21-11 in just over 20 minutes.
The Gold Coast 2018 silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth successfully began his surge for gold in the men's singles round of 32. He defeated Daniel Wanagaliya of Uganda 21-9, 21-9 to reach the round of 16.
Sindhu and Srikanth both started their singles campaign in the second round after receiving the bye in the opening round.
Sindhu will be up against Uganda's Husina Kobugabe in the roud of 16 while Srikanth will play Daniel Wanagaliya of Uganda on Friday.
Mixed doubles pair of Ashwini Ponappa and B Sumeeth Reddy, however, lost to English duo of Jessica Pugh and Callum Hemming 21-18, 21-16 in the second round. (UNI)
