Former Australia cricketer David Warner has been charged with drink-driving following an incident in Sydney.
According to New South Wales Police, a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday during a random breath test in Maroubra, in eastern Sydney. The test returned a positive result, leading to his arrest.
Police stated that the individual’s vehicle had allegedly stopped short of the testing site before parking, prompting officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to approach and conduct a roadside check.
He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second breath analysis reportedly showed a blood alcohol reading of 0.104—more than twice the legal limit permitted in New South Wales.
Warner has been charged with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol offence, which applies to drivers with a blood alcohol level between 0.08 and 0.149. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
The former opener, who retired from international cricket in 2024, is currently leading Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. The team is set to face Peshawar Zalmi on April 9.
