Southampton: West Indies reduced England to 204 in the first Test match at Ageas Bowl on Thursday. In the last session westindies showed intent with the bat and lost only 1 wicket on 57 runs facing 19 overs.
England began the day on 35 for one after only 17 overs were completed at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday, but their top-order crumbled as Gabriel bowled Joe Denly for 18.

In his next over the 32-year-old Gabriel trapped opener Rory Burns (30) in front of his stumps. A not-out decision was given by the on-field umpire but that was reversed on review, with Hawk-Eye having the ball hitting leg stump.

Soon, captain Jason Holder took over from Gabriel and he stunned the English middle-order by getting rid of Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope in a span of five overs.

Crawley was dismissed for 10 while Pope got for 12, leaving England reeling at 87/5.Both, Gabriel and Holder scalped two wickets each in the first session as England batsmen struggled to cope up with the visitors' perfect line and length in the gloomy conditions of Southampton.

It could have been even worse for England shortly before lunch when Alzarri Joseph tempted Stokes into hooking and Kemar Roach failed to hold on to a diving catch at long leg.

Stokes and his deputy Jos Buttler didn't let another wicket to fall as England went into the break without any further hiccups. However after the tea session Holder hold on to the English batting line up and ensured the tail didn't wag much.
