Dubai:International cricket will take place after a long gap of 117 days when England play West Indies for a three-match series beginning at Southampton with empty stands.Sporting activities were halted in March due to corona pandemic across the globe.

Ben Stokes, who will step up as England captain in the absence of Joe Root for the first Test against West Indies here on Wednesday, has said his focus is "on the job, not on the bells and whistles" of captaincy.
 
Stokes, Root's vice-captain, will be leading the team for the first time while the regular Test skipper is away for the birth of his child. The all-rounder said the title was a matter of pride for him, but he didn't see it changing how he approaches the game.

Lara, who scored a record 11,953 runs for West Indies in 131 Tests, said the series would depend on how quickly they can adapt to English conditions.(UNI)
