Former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia quits Trinamool Congress

Kolkata: Former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia today announced his resignation from the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress, a move ahead of coming Panchyat poll in West Bengal."As of today I have officially resigned from the membership and all the official and political posts of All India Trinamool Congress party. I am no longer a member or associated with any political party.

In India," 41-year-old Bhutia, who was face of Indian football in 90s and early in this millennium said in his social site.However, calls on his mobile phone and the AITC officials for comments, remained unanswered.One of the prolific strikers in his football career, Bhutia made several unsuccessful attempts to win in elections as a TMC candidate.Even as TMC swept across Bengal, Bhutia failed to win in the assembly polls from Siliguri and parliament seat in Darjeeling.(UNI)
