New Delhi: Among seven Indian athletes star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and sprint queen Hima Das will represent Asia-Pacific in the upcoming IAAF Continental Cup beginning from September 8-9 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
The Asian Athletics Association (AAA) has selected seven top Indian athletes in this championship.
These athletes have been shortlisted based on the current IAAF world rankings are Neeraj Chopra (javelin), Muhammed Anas (400m), Jinson Johnson (800m) and Arpinder Singh (triple jump) in the men’s category while in women’s event Hima Das (400m), PU Chitra (1500m) and Sudha Singh (3000m steeplechase).
While Neeraj is currently training in Finland under national javelin coach Uwe Hohn while Anas and Hima are training in Czech Republic for the upcoming Asian Games.
Jinson Johnson and Sudha Singh are in the national camp and at presently toiling hard in Bhutan before the Asian Games.
The Continental Cup first commenced in 2010 and after every four year takes place with countries like Africa, US, Asia-Pacific and Europe fielding their best athletes. (UNI)
