Hamirpur: Himachal Pradesh's cricketer Renuka Thakur has been named in the India women team for the upcoming Asia Cup to be played at Sylhet, Bangladesh from October 1 to 15.
The BCCI has announced the squad for the Asia Cup on Wednesday, Renuka will lead the Indian pace attack.
Renuka will be part of the Indian team for the first time in the Asia Cup. She is currently with the team for the ongoing one-day series against England.
India began their campaign against Sri Lanka on October 1 while they face rivals Pakistan on October 7.
This time the Asia Cup is going to be special for Renuka as Jhulan Goswami, the long-time leader of Indian fast bowling, has announced her retirement. In such a situation, the responsibility of fast bowling will be on Renuka.
